The new 2022 Chevy Corvette has much to offer car enthusiasts, a top performer that long-time Corvette fans will love. If you’re looking for an elite car that is capable of both luxurious daily drives and Supercar performance, the newest Chevy Corvette model should be a top contender. Capability meets affordability and style with this performance car. Let’s explore more of what makes this car so great to ride in and what makes it even greater to own and drive.

Performance

For ultimate performance, look at the Z51 performance package. This adds all the top performance features and gear to your vehicle while giving drivers access to impressive offerings, such as the dual-mode performance exhaust. Also part of the performance package is a limited-slip rear differential and sensitive brakes that can full stop in 149 feet when going 70 mph to deliver even greater control. Without the performance package, however, the Corvette still delivers impressive handling and excitement for drivers.

There’s one transmission option available on the new Corvette, and that is the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that offers a smooth ride on the track or on your daily commute. Drivers can control their vehicle’s shifting via the paddles on either side of the steering wheel or by using a center console push-button gear selector. A new fuel pump and fuel injectors optimize performance compared with previous models. Engine power goes to the rear wheels of this rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

Engine Specs

Mixing it up for the 2022 edition, the Corvette’s engine is now behind the passenger compartment rather than in front, as in previous models. The engine is the same as past years’: a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that offers 470 lb-ft of torque and 490 horsepower. Those who opt for the Z51 performance package can expect an additional five horsepower from their engines. This car goes from zero to 60 mph in under three seconds.

Exterior

There are a few exterior design options for Corvette owners to choose from. One is Chevy’s limited-edition appearance package that commemorates the IMSA GTLM championship win. Chevy plans to make only 1,000 editions, and it comes with a $6,595 price tag on top of the price of the highest trim level: the 3LT. Hypersonic Gray and Accelerate Yellow are the two color options available with this package, with matching interior and other sporty features, such as colored mirror caps and a colored rear spoiler.

Those not wanting this package can still choose from three additional color options this year: Amplify Orange, Caffeine, and Hypersonic Gray. The car comes in two models: the coupe and the convertible. The top of the coupe lifts off so you can enjoy the open air in either version. Other exterior changes further differentiate the 2022 Corvette from its predecessors. The body style is sleek and low profile. Those wanting an even greater performance car look can opt for a low-profile rear spoiler.

Interior

Unlike many performance-driven sports cars, the interior of the 2022 Corvette is surprisingly roomy, making it perfect for daily driving. There’s enough cargo space for daily essentials, two golf bags, and even a weekend’s worth of luggage. The mid-car engine on the 2022 Corvette means drivers can store their items in the vehicle’s front or rear trunk. The car offers seating for two, and its interiors are luxurious and futuristic, with seat material options such as faux suede, leather, and metal trim.

Inside is an infotainment system, with a large 12-inch gauge display that angles toward the driver for ease of access. It’s clear Chevrolet took its time designing the interior of the vehicle, focusing on driver-centric features such as accessible climate control buttons in the middle of the cockpit. Higher-level trims, such as special trims and seat materials, heighten the luxury experience. Those who opt for the special edition appearance package also enjoy a sporty interior with the Corvette logo and iconic limited-edition colors. Drivers might notice the unusual steering wheel, which features squared-off edges rather than the classic circle design.

Technology

The eight-inch touchscreen display makes it easy for drivers to stay in control when driving the 2022 Corvette. The display is an accessible system that responds to commands and connects remotely to your devices. Those who upgrade to the 2LT trim benefit from additional technology features, such as a head-up display, wireless phone charging, steering wheel heating, heating and cooling seats, a 14-speaker stereo system, and blind spot monitoring. Although they add to the price tag, these features represent useful and driver-conscious improvements to the base model.

Driver-assistance features, such as blind spot monitoring and the head-up display, don’t come standard on the most basic trim level. Upgrading your vehicle gives you access to safer technologies like these and more, including rear cross-traffic alerts.

Trim Levels

The 2022 Chevy Corvette comes in three trim levels. These include the base model, the 1LT, and the two higher-up models, the 2LT and 3LT. The major differences between these packages lie in their specific technology offerings. The 2LT provides several driver-focused features that can make the Corvette a better choice for daily road driving. All three trims have the same engine offerings and come in 12 exterior colors. Additional packages are also available, along with standalone features such as the FE4 magnetorheological dampers, which were not available on their own in prior models.

Fuel Economy

The 2022 Corvette achieves an average fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. This is about the same as the front-engined edition of the vehicle in previous years. Of course, your fuel efficiency is influenced by the package you choose and how you plan to drive your vehicle.

The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette is a beautiful car with impressive handling, exotic looks, and championship-winning performance. Its starting price point makes this sports car an accessible option for performance vehicle enthusiasts, and it has many exciting packages and features available.
