2023 Chevy Corvette Z06: Performance & Handling

Set for release in early 2023, the Chevy Corvette Z06 is back and boasts a new LT6 V-8 engine. Although incredibly powerful, the new engine only scratches the surface of features available in this premium-level Corvette. Customize your vehicle even further for an exhilarating driving experience befitting an elite luxury sportscar automaker. If you want a Corvette with the best downforce, horsepower, and handling, along with an abundance of luxurious custom options, the Z06 is the car for you. Check out this Huffines Chevrolet Lewisville guide to the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Overview

The new Z06 model of the Chevrolet Corvette is a high-performance variation that also carries a more aggressive, customizable appearance. The new 5.5-liter LT6 flat-plane-crank V-8 is the heart and soul of the vehicle, making it the fastest Z06 ever. This engine generates an impressive 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which is quite an overhaul compared to the lower 2023 Corvette trims with 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Along with having more power under the hood, the Corvette Z06 has several track-ready features you won’t find elsewhere. The Corvette Z06’s high-wing rear spoiler improves its aerodynamic profile, and a range of subtle adjustments are made to produce more downforce. Because of the extreme attention to detail concerning performance and handling, the 2023 Corvette Z06 offers the driver the highest level of craftsmanship among luxury street-legal sports cars. Here’s what to expect from the Z06’s engine and overall design.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Top Speed and Times

The 2023 Z06 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and hit a quarter mile in 10.6 seconds, with peak engine power and torque delivery coming through around 8,400 RPM. The standard Z06 can reach a top speed of 195 mph, while models with the downforce-intensive Z07 Performance Package can reach 188 mph. For context, the 2023 Corvette Stingray has a top speed of 194 mph. Versions of the 2023 Stingray carrying the optional Z51 Performance Package are capable of 184 mph due to the small front splitter and rear spoiler.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Handling and Brakes

Any Corvette will maneuver hills and highway curves with ease, but the Z06 takes things to another level. The Z06 is exceptionally aerodynamic at high speeds, helping you stay in control and feel out your next move. One important feature is Performance Traction Management, with five settings to help employ torque reduction and brake intervention multiple times per second. Another significant feature is the Electronic Limited Slip Differential. This adjusts the rate at which the limited slip engages to balance steering response and stability in different driving conditions.

Compared to the Stingray, the Z06’s larger Brembo brake rotors have a 14.6-inch (370 mm) front diameter and a 15-inch (380 mm) rear diameter, contributing to its superior track performance. The standard braking system on the Z06 consists of six-piston front calipers, as opposed to four pistons on the Stingray. The Corvette Z06’s performance peaks with the Z07 package, which trades the iron rotors for the beefier, but significantly lighter Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors.

2023 Z06 Performance Features

The 2023 Corvette Z06 uses technologies first seen on the mid-engine Corvette Stingray, such as even more thoughtful applications of lightweight materials. The SLA-type front and rear suspension of the Corvette Stingray is still present in the new Z06, but it has been specially tuned for higher performance capabilities. Using the built-in Driver Mode Selector, you can set the Magnetic Selective Ride Control 4.0 for maximum track performance, touring comfort, or somewhere in between.

If the Z06 is the level of driving quality you’ve been looking for, you’ll need to keep a close eye on the market since these top-level models can sell quickly. 2023 Z06 Interior Features

Since the Z06 carries an all-new engine, its performance is top-notch. However, the interior is equally impressive, from the racecar-style steering wheel to the comprehensive driver-assistance technology. Its track-worthiness is even more apparent inside with microsuede accents, aggressively bolstered seats, and two carbon-fiber-intensive interior packages. Drivers should continue to be able to carry two sets of golf clubs in the Corvette’s trunk, fitting up to 12.6 cubic feet of space.

The Z06 is just like any 2023 Corvette in some ways, boasting partial inspiration from a fighter jet. Although no exclusive infotainment screens or other features are added to the Z06 specifically, it is still the highest trim level and boasts the most advanced options.

As a top trim level over the 3LT, the Z06 includes all of that trim level’s standard equipment. A head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, and a digital gauge cluster come standard, along with GT2 sport seats. Customize the Z06 interior to your heart’s content by choosing from over seven different interior colors and two levels of carbon fiber or leather interior trim.

An 8-inch touch screen handles infotainment tasks and includes typical smartphone integration, with the wireless phone charger platform and cup holders within reach below. The infotainment screen includes a performance data recorder, which lets you record and track performance details like acceleration speed, braking, and gear selections.
