The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and 2024 Ford F-150 are hot competitors in the light-duty, full-size pickup truck arena. At Huffines Chevrolet, we’ve looked at the two head-to-head to help you decide which truck is right for you. We compare everything from trim levels and colors to interior comfort and technology, plus the rugged practicality of what’s under the hood. We’re dedicated to helping families in Plano, Denton, Lewisville, or McKinney make the best decision on a new truck. Read on to see how the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and 2024 Ford F-150 stack up.
Trim Levels
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado is available in nine trims: the WT, Custom, LT, Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, RST, ZR2, and High Country. The base WT trim offers plenty of power and comes standard with features such as push-start and remote keyless entry. The Custom adds excellent features such as a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar control. With the Custom Trail Boss, you’ll be ready to hit the trails with the Z71 off-road package and a 2-inch factory suspension lift. The LT trim emphasizes technology and an enhanced exterior, while the High Country is the top-tier trim.
The Ford F-150 is available in eight trims: the XL, XLT, Tremor, STX, Raptor, Platinum, Lariat, and King Ranch. The XL is the base trim, while the XLT adds several base towing features. The Lariat trim focuses on style, including leather-trimmed captain’s chairs. The Platinum trim focuses on luxury enhancements, while the Raptor is designed for off-roading. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado has the edge here, with an even more versatile lineup thanks to one more trim offering than the 2024 Ford F-150.
Exterior Design
Both the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and the 2024 Ford F-150 have robust exterior designs and take command of the road. On the outside, the Chevrolet Silverado is similar to the 2023 model year following its major update in 2022. It’s available in eleven colors, including the new Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Slate Grey Metallic. The Ford F-150 is also available in eleven colors, with Shelter Green added in 2024.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado is available in regular, double, and crew cab body styles. The Ford F-150 offers regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew styles. Both the 2024 Silverado and 2024 Ford F-150 offer space to haul your tools and cargo, but when it comes to bed size, the Chevrolet Silverado has the edge here, too. While the Ford F-150 offers you beds of 5.5, 6.5, and 8 feet, the Chevrolet Silverado’s smallest bed is slightly larger at 5.7 feet. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado also has something the 2024 Ford F-150 doesn’t to make your life that much easier: a multiflex tailgate.
Power and Performance
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado’s standard engine is the TurboMax. Giving you 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, the Chevrolet Silverado’s standard power is plenty for all your light-duty jobs. The standard engine in the Ford F-150, the 2.6L V-6 EcoBoost, has a slightly higher standard horsepower of 325. However, its standard torque is lower at 400 lb-ft. The Chevrolet Silverado offers a max towing power of 13,300 pounds when properly equipped, compared with 14,000 pounds for the Ford F-150. The F-150 has a higher payload capacity of 3,325 pounds compared to 2,260 pounds for the Silverado.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado offers four engine options, and the 2024 Ford F-150 offers seven, including the hybrid PowerBoost. However, only the Silverado has an available diesel engine. If you want to go with diesel, you’ll definitely need to take the Chevrolet Silverado with its 3.0L V-6 Turbo-Diesel engine over the Ford F-150. Both the Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150 will offer electric versions in 2024.
Interior and Technology
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado is roomier inside. Silverado passengers will enjoy a total passenger volume of 139 cubic feet of space, while the Ford F-150 passengers will have 136 cubic feet. The Chevrolet Silverado is also a larger truck, measuring 241.3 inches long and 81.2 inches wide compared to the 231.7-inch length and 79.9-inch width of the Ford F-150. The 2024 Silverado offers nice seating and a variety of comfort upgrades in higher trim levels.
In terms of technology, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado has a 7-inch standard infotainment touch screen. Although this is smaller than the 8-inch standard touch screen in the 2024 Ford F-150, the Silverado wins out when upgrades are applied. The Chevrolet Silverado’s maximum infotainment screen is 13.4 inches, compared to 12 inches in the Ford F-150. Both trucks include Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The F-150 has a Wi-Fi hotspot, which is also available in the Silverado.
Safety Features
Safety is critical, no matter which vehicle you choose. Both trucks offer some type of forward collision and lane departure warning systems. Unlike the 2024 Ford F-150, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado also includes teen driver tech, which might be the deciding factor for families with teenagers or other new drivers.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado comes with Chevy Safety Assist. This suite of safety technology includes collision-prevention technology such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, and front pedestrian braking. While you’re driving, you can feel confident in the following distance indicator and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning. Meanwhile, IntelliBeam headlights clearly light the road ahead. Standard automatic high beams are included with the F-150.
Our Verdict: The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Comes Out on Top
While the 2024 Ford F-150 is a valiant competitor, the Chevrolet Silverado has essential features such as extra space, higher base torque, and advanced safety features to put it in a league of its own. Add to this the Chevrolet Silverado’s available diesel engine, missing in the F-150, and we believe there is truly a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado for any family’s goals for work, play, and adventure.
