No matter which trims level you choose, the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray gets its power from a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that generates 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. The maximum output increases to 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque with the Z51 Performance Package. Mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the engine sends power to the rear wheels.

In contrast, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 comes with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 engine with an incredible 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This power mill is the most potent free-breathing V-8 fitted to a road car. It can rev all the way to a whopping 8,600 rpm, while the Stingray’s engine has a redline of 6,500 rpm. The Z06 uses the same transmission and drivetrain configuration as the regular Corvette.

Performance

The 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray is already one of the quickest production cars on the market. It can sprint from zero to 60 mph in a mind-blowing 2.8 seconds and complete a quarter-mile run in 11.2 seconds. The Corvette Z06 is slightly faster off the line, needing only 2.6 seconds to reach 60 mph. It’s also capable of delivering a blistering quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds.

Handling

If you enjoy spirited driving along winding roads or on the track, you won’t go wrong with either the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray or Corvette Z06. Few sports cars are as well-balanced as the Corvette. This Chevy model tackles sharp corners and twisty roads with remarkable poise and confidence, demonstrating astonishing agility and no body lean. Its well-weighted and responsive steering makes the car a cinch to maneuver, while its big brakes provide authoritative stopping power.

Despite its sporty handling, the Corvette Stingray rides smoothly and comfortably, even over bumps and potholes. This is especially so in models equipped with the available Magnetic Ride Control system, which can automatically stiffen or soften the shock absorbers to suit different driving situations. Overall, this sports car is a pleasure to drive, whether you’re blazing down open roads or commuting through the city.

The Corvette Z06 kicks things up a notch with various performance upgrades. These include a specially tuned control arm suspension, standard Magnetic Ride Control, and electronically controlled limited-slip differential, which is all available for an extra cost. In addition, the Z06 comes with bigger Brembo brakes, front calipers with more pistons, and larger wheels. The additional features give it an edge over the Stingray in terms of performance and handling.

Exterior

Both the Chevy Corvette Stingray and Corvette Z06 are sharp-looking cars that make a striking impression everywhere they go. They may appear similar at first glance, but a closer look reveals specific differences. The Z06 is 3.6 inches wider and has wider tires than the Stingray, which gives it a more planted stance. It also comes with larger intake vents to provide better cooling for the engine, transaxle, and brakes.

Along the sides, the Corvette Z06 distinguishes itself with a new rocker panel styling and black aero trim. It also gets a wishbone-shaped side intake trim rather than the regular Corvette’s boomerang-shaped trim. At the rear, the Z06 features four central exhaust tips, whereas the Stingray has outboard dual exhaust tips. Both of these Chevy models offer a wide array of exterior upgrades, such as aerodynamic elements, a more prominent front splitter, a larger or higher rear wing, and carbon-fiber accents.

Interior

On the inside, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Corvette Z06 share many similarities. They both offer three seat choices, which are GT1, GT2, and Competition seats, and they come with a large rear trunk. Then again, the Z06 has a number of unique interior features that set it apart from the Stingray. These include a square steering wheel and a wall of temperature-control buttons on the center console. The cabin also reflects its track-worthiness with aggressively bolstered seats, micro-suede accents, and two carbon-fiber interior packages.

The Stingray and Z06 have plenty of standard and available comfort and infotainment features to keep you relaxed and entertained on the road. These include leather upholstery, heated and cooled seats, a digital instrument cluster, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, a 10- or 14-speaker audio system, and a head-up display. Both cars also have the Performance Data Recorder, which enables you to record videos of everything from your road trips to track exploits.
