So, gather your friends and get off the couch — it’s time to enjoy your summer.

Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series

The “Sounds of Lewisville” concert series returns to the Wayne Ferguson Plaza. It originated in 1991 as an outdoor family entertainment event at the Vista Ridge Amphitheater. Today, you can enjoy the sounds of various local acts every Tuesday in June and July from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Last year’s concert series hosted 14 bands, 20 food vendors, over 8,000 attendees, and a spectacular firework show. The shows are free, and the lineups are constantly updated, so check out the schedule for the most current information.

North Texas Fair & Rodeo

Buckle up for the North Texas Fair and Rodeo, a fun-filled event held every year at the fairgrounds in Denton. You won’t want to miss out on all the exhilarating activities and exhibitions. This event offers nine exciting nights of rodeos, live country music, attractions, beauty pageants, a parade, and much more.

The goal of the North Texas State Fair is to support the community and agriculture by reinvesting the money into various programs and scholarships. Bring the whole family along for the thrill of a lifetime. The fair will take place from Aug. 18 to 26, and tickets are available for purchase from $5 to $20.

The Colony Summer Clubhouse

Are you trying to get the little ones out of the house? Then head to The Colony Summer Clubhouse to see the four-month summer series showcase performances. Your children will be delighted with shows such as sing-along storytelling, magic shows, and animal meet-and-greets.

These activities will all take place at The Colony Recreation Center Gymnasium. This family-friendly event is for all ages and has free entry. Each performance will begin at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 9 a.m., so arrive early to snag your spots.

Liberty By The Lake

Kick off the summer season with the 26th Annual Liberty By The Lake Festival. The morning celebration will start with the Liberty 5K/10K/1M race at Stewart Creek Park. Afterward, go to The Colony Five Star Complex for a parade, concert, food vendors, and a spectacular fireworks show to conclude the evening.

This year’s parade theme is Texas Legends, which could include any famous actor, professional athlete, or historical figure from Texas. Iconic Texas food is also acceptable. You’re invited to participate in the parade by decorating your vehicle according to the theme. Although it’s not mandatory, it’s a fun tradition that allows you to win cash prizes. Make sure to register for the parade in advance.

Wild About LLELA Day Camp

Get your kids off the screens and out into the great outdoors. Children aged 7 to 12 are invited to participate in Wild About LLELA, an active summer camp that lets them connect with nature. During the week, they can explore the natural world through various activities such as kayaking, fishing, and hiking. The camp is located at the Long Lake Nature Preserve.

Appropriate footwear is required for the weather and the primitive trail conditions. Long pants are also recommended. All campers should bring a water bottle, as sweet drinks such as sports drinks can attract bees and wasps. Camp will rain or shine, so check the weather each morning and dress accordingly.  There are three different sessions taking place from June 6 to June 21. Registration ends on May 31, so sign your children up immediately.

Mariachi Brunch

Esquina Del Sabor cordially invites you to their Mariachi Brunch, which will take place on June 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You’ll enjoy live music from a local mariachi band and delicious regional Mexican food.

Located in the heart of Lewisville, Esquina Del Sabors offers a variety of dishes and drinks made with the finest Mexican ingredients. Its menu features simple and fresh dishes, including Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquilas de la Esquina, Birria, and Pazole Roja.

Enjoy the open-display cooking over a rotating selection of frozen alcoholic beverages and tequila margaritas. What better way to enjoy a summer afternoon?

A History of Lewisville Schools Exhibit

Show your local pride and explore “A History of Lewisville Schools.” The exhibit, part of the Heritage Project of the City of Lewisville, tells the story of the school district’s growth, which started in the 1840s with the establishment of rural schools in the area. It features newspaper articles, deeds, drawings, maps, and photos.

The exhibit features former students and school-related items. You can also write messages on the walls to express your support for the school district. This is a feature of the facility’s program, which is sponsored by the city of Lewisville’s Heritage Project. The exhibit is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 12 to June 16.
